Settling In!

We have been home a week now and what a difference a day makes. If you remember a week ago Aubrey didn't want anything to do with me. She was drinking 4 to 5 bottles a day and hardly eating anything else. Also, she was sleeping during the day and not at night. She now wants me to hold her. We are down to 3 bottles a day. She is eating 3 meals a day and she sleeps at night.

On Tuesday, Jeremy took her to the doctors to have her staples removed. Unfortunately, she also got 6 shots. They did a TB test and wanted to do blood work but Daddy felt that she had been through enough so she will have the blood work done on Friday after they read her TB test. We got appointments with the cardiologist and orthopedist but Daddy forgot the nephrologist so I will get that Friday as well. All in all, we have settled in a lot and accomplished a lot.

We Made It!

After 13+ hours of flying and layovers, we are back in Texas. Poor Aubrey is all mixed up. We have her awake when she is supposed to be sleeping. She did great on the entire flight as long as Jeremy held her. So far, all she wants to do is scratch my eyes out. She is going to take some time to grieve and stop resenting me for taking her away from her foster mother. I guess it is good that we have been through this before. Otherwise, I might be completely heartbroken. I can sympathize! I just hope she doesn't take too long to get over the crying every time I get near her or when Daddy is out of sight. Tomorrow will be a test since Jeremy is going to work in the morning. Only time will tell!

Almost there.

Yesterday we got to visit Aubrey at her foster home. This was after we met her at the doctor's office to get a look at her newly aquired stitches on the back of her head. Seems she got up a little early from her nap on Friday afternoon and began to wander around her home. She fell and cut her head open on a TV of all things. But aside from the stitches all is well. She was running around like crazy while we visited. We have discovered she loves to climb and has no fear. We get her for good tommorrow (Wed) afternoon and then fly out early Thursday morning.

We are here

We arrived in Korea on Wednesday afternoon and have been on the go since. Thursday and Friday morning, we got to spend about an hour with Aubrey. Unfortunately, she has not warmed up to me yet. She is very clever and knows that something is up. She has been having fun with Daddy which makes me feel much better. We will get to see her again tomorrow and then on Wednesday evening we are supposed to get her for good, thanks to an early morning flight home on Thursday.

Tuesday's the day!

My mother in-law is on her way and we have alternate foster care in place. At 7:10 Tuesday morning, we start our travel to Korea. We have to go to Dallas first and then it is non stop all the way. Thursday morning at 10:00 we hold our baby girl for the first time.
